Blackstone Talent Group, an award-winning technology consulting and talent agency is seeking a Windows Systems Administrator to join our team at our client s site in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

With minimum guidance provides technical expertise, including performing in-depth and complex software systems programming and analysis. Assists in the design of architectures to include software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces.

Ensures these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems and DoD architectures.

Determines and identifies high level functional and technical requirements based on interactions with the user community and knowledge of the enterprise architecture.

Identifies, assesses, and presents options for meeting the functional and technical requirements including hardware and software updates or upgrades.

Formulates and defines specifications for operating system applications or modifies and maintains existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer.

Interacts with project management to plan project schedules and technical direction.

Backup and recovery

o Develop, document, and apply procedures for systems and database backup and recovery

o Assist with establishing procedures for COOP

o Backup, restore, configure, manipulate, and restructure databases as required

o Monitor and validate database backups

o Perform test recoveries on a regular basis

Security and STIGs

o Support the Certification and Accreditation process - run scans; resolve findings; document solutions, workarounds or provide justifications for exceptions

o Document, implement, and maintain system and database security policies in accordance with DISA STIG requirements

o Implement mitigations of security vulnerabilities in response to IAVAs

o Support auditing requirements

o Participate in Active Directory design and manage Group Policy

o Maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems.


o Define and oversee database standards, controls, procedures, and documentation

o Create documentation required for Risk Management Framework (RMF)

o Complete planning and documentation prior to new integration or implementation

o Ensure that documentation is complete and up-to-date

o Maintain and document scripts and batch processes

o Provide weekly and monthly status reports

RMF experience a PLUS!!!


Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Certification Requirements:

DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ ce) at date of hire

DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager (e.g.., Microsoft Server 2012R2 or higher (MCSA or MCSE)).

If you start only with a Security+ ce, continued employment will be contingent on receiving the additional Windows certification within 3 months after your start date.

CND-IS Certification (i.e. CEH, CySA+, GICSP, or SSCP only one is required)

If you start only with a Security+ ce, continued employment will be contingent on receiving the additional CND-IS certificate within 3 months after your start date.


3-5 years work experience as Systems Administrator

Experience with Microsoft s Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012 R2

Operation, maintenance of software/network on virtual and physical hosts supporting the Windows operating systems

Accounts management in Active Directory

Database tuning, backup and recovery

Troubleshooting database problems, failures, and performance issues.

Experience with administering systems in a government environment a plus

Experience with VMWare is a plus

Maintain and upgrade PKI Certificates

Experience applying STIGs to Windows servers, laptops, desktops, printers, GPOs

Experience in SharePoint administration a plus

Experience with technologies such as SCCM, WSUS, virtual environments, NAS, and Windows clustering service

May program in an administrative language (PowerShell, VBS, etc.)

Familiarity with HBSS applications

ACAS scanning and reporting

SCAP scanning and remediation

Remote support to end users and servers

Experience with Server and Workstation image creating and updating

Clearance Requirements:

Must have a minimum of a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility on hire and confirmed within JPAS.
