Senior Android Developer Job Description
The Android Developer is responsible for the development and maintenance of native mobile code. This
person utilizes their knowledge of mobile development and hardware capabilities as an integral part of
the software development team.
The role requires an energetic and self-motivated individual with excellent communication, organization,
and technical skills to work cross functionally.
Build/maintain real-time, performant native Android applications for internal and external use
Collaborate with Product and Design teams to create elegant and intuitive experience for users
Use software development best practices to write code that is maintainable, testable, and efficient
Stay current with the fast-changing landscape of Android development and best practices
Support and troubleshoot issues, identify root cause, and proactively implement sustainable solutions
Evaluate new and existing frameworks, technology, platforms, and tooling
Develop unit tests and test changes using an agile methodology
Use a variety of tools to perform unit testing, automated builds, and source control.
Participate as a member in Agile teams, and work with other team members to review user stories,
estimate effort for user stories, and participate in sprint reviews
Adapt to changing requirements and priorities
Translate business objectives into programming initiatives and requirements
Actively participate in all team agile ceremonies and contributing to ensure that all team commitments
are delivered on time and of the highest quality
Collaborate with development team and product owners to analyze, design, and implement user stories
using an agile methodology
Write high-quality code that complies with design specifications and meets development and support
Minimum 5-8 years developing consumer applications and architectural responsibilities Minimum 4 years native Android app development
Proficient in one or more of the following: Java, Kotlin
Experience developing with Firebase (analytics, notifications, etc)
Experience communicating with secure JSON-based REST APIs
Solid understanding of application security and best practices
Work efficiently with version control and workflows (git and gitflow)
Knowledge of design and UX principles for mobile interfaces
Experience using automated testing frameworks for Android based applications
Experience with mobile hardware SDK like camera, accelerometer, GPS, etc.
Experience publishing applicaitons to the App Store and implementing Release Management best
Experience with Agile/SCRUM development methodologies
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting
Managing resources and relationships
A passion for Continuous Improvement
Communicating throughout the organization
Initiating new, creative ideas
Flexible and open to exploring new paths
Ability to manage multiple projects that vary in scope
Preferred, but not required:
Experience with JIRA
Experience in writing and understanding user stories
Basic understanding of iOS platform a huge plus
