Blackstone Talent Group, an award-winning technology consulting and talent agency, is seeking a Principal Systems Safety Engineer to join our Client's team.
Description:
- Leading one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
- Performing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, or the customer’s approved equivalent
- Coordinating with customer safety representatives to gain safety approval from the appropriate Safety Review Board authorities
- Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
- Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Performing System Safety Program, Hazard analyses, or Design analyses
- Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
- Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards
- Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
Required Skill Sets:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.
- Experience with: System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent Safety Engineering.
Desired Skill Sets:
- Experience in command and control systems and/or weapon combat systems
- Experience with DoD System Safety Programs
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
- Ability to solve complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel
- Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
