Blackstone Technology Group, an award-winning technology consulting and talent agency is seeking a Business Architect/SME of Group Insurance to join our team at our client s site in New York, NY.
As the primary client interface for all business functionality, the Business Architect/SME provides subject matter expertise and is accountable for our product best practices, architecture and design guidance ensuring it provides client ROI. This position is also responsible for analyzing stakeholder needs and business processes in order to identify, write and validate business/user interface requirements for large software projects. As the owner of all business requirements, the Business Architect/SME is also responsible for liaising between the client and internal teams including, but not limited to, Development and Quality Assurance (QA), to produce cohesive results.
Understand our products and client business strategy, priorities, challenges, capabilities and technical architecture. Effectively define opportunities to drive client business value by defining specific our business solutions offered; align customer on future roadmap and upgrades.
Support and/or manage requirements-gathering and analysis process with clients, ensuring a strengthened strategic partnership between our company and its clients.
Analyze and interpret client requirements to create clear and concise documentation for use by internal and external business and technical users.
With minimal supervision, gather and document the requirements for business applications.
Ensure that all requirements gathered and agreed upon are thoroughly documented and presented in a consistent and high-quality manner.
Consider the impact of requirements implementation in order to identify conflicting requirements/implementation early.
Maintain an understanding of the direction and strategic initiatives in the insurance industry and how they may impact both client requests and our solutions.
Drive communication with clients, project managers, developers, data analysts, and QA team members to ensure the alignment and achievement of all client goals.
Retain a solid understanding of the project scope and any tasks/items that may impact the delivery schedule.
Act as subject matter expert and the project's point of contact for client questions on strategy and requirements, documentation, functionality, and deliverables.

Understand and apply the concepts of usability and best practices in User Interface design.
Creative self-starter with a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
Intermediate working knowledge of MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel.
People Leadership/Development Duties
No direct supervisory duties.
As directed, work with Project Manager to schedule and track project related activities of the other project team members.
As directed, provide job-related mentorship and training to peers.
As requested, provide peer review feedback.
Education, Certification and/or Formal Training
High School Diploma required; Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Math or other related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years required:Client facing business architect in a decentralized environment.
Minimum 5 years required: Large complex software implementation and integration projects using Agile methodology within centralized and decentralized environments.
Minimum 5 years required: Pricing, underwriting, reserving, and/or configurations within the voluntary group insurance industry.
The following technical experience and/or knowledge are pluses: Java, Agile Methodologies, JIRA, Confluence, Maven, Mercurial, Eclipse, continuous integration tools and/or concepts, application servers, XML formatting
This job generally operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers/keyboards/mice, printers, phones, mobile devices, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, etc. The noise level in the office work environment varies from moderate to loud. When traveling to client sites, the employee may be exposed to various unknown work environments.
This position may occasionally necessitate working additional hours and weekends outside of the employee s regular work schedule.
Local and/or national US travel up to 50%
