The Business Analyst, Expert role develops financial data analytical techniques and methodologies to monitor portfolio financial progress to ensure financial goals and objectives are met. Specific outcomes of data analytics are supplying, interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators to help Leaders make informed business decisions. The successful candidate will work with Finance to ensure adherence to broader finance and risk requirements. Serve as the point of contact for the department on contractual matters. Act as the contractual administrator and liaison between the department s internal customer and external vendors. Have strategic responsibility for large contracts (build relationships with Sourcing & maintain relationships with Vendors). Develops and presents aggregated financial analysis reports for business partners and leadership. Report out on financial progress, forecast & variance, being made against the department's business goals and objectives. Provide recommendations to senior management and extended leadership with supporting analysis. Lead portions of the S2 planning process, develop annual financial plans and present budgetary needs. Specific types of analytics and reporting may include performance dashboards, business analytics, modeling, budgeting, and forecasting. Incumbents may also be involved in business process improvement, quality control and special projects.
Roles and responsibilities:
-Directly responsible for planning and executing on the activities for some or all of the following:
- Data Analysis
- Data gathering, integration, compiling and analysis. Examples of data sources are ECATs, HR Headcount Report, SAP Planning Order information, SAP Order level detail, SAP Purchase Order detail, SAP PRJ Forecast details, Vendor Contracts forecast data.
- Metrics and Reporting
- Develops and tracks business metrics. Develops and maintains standard, custom and ad-hoc reports.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
Develops or works with budgets, forecasts, and variance explanations.
- Resource Management Keep track, report out and manage Internal and Non-Employee headcount.
- Research Researches best practices; develops models to provide Business intelligence data for Leadership.
- Effective in partnering with co-workers on initiatives to analyze complex business problems using data from internal and external sources. Advises business leaders and addresses issues, trends, risks and opportunities.
-Creates new ideas and innovative solutions (such as monthly financial statements). Ensures effective development and tracking of business metrics and determines appropriate performance metrics to ensure proper level of customer service to internal clients is achieved. Direct interface with internal clients.
-Develops and maintains reoccurring standard, or custom and ad-hoc financial and resource reports.
-Contributes to financial performance by monitoring budget, controlling costs, forecasting and reviewing/approving expenses. Has responsibility for the department s operating baseline expense budget.
-Develops and delivers presentations to multiple levels of management containing summaries of client performance data/metrics; includes an explanation of findings, trends and recommendations for business changes. Creates compelling business cases based on complex business issues.
-Synthesizes research, provides perspective, best practices and develops recommendations for leadership.
-Has previous experience with compiling Data Requests for filings and regulatory review. Able to draft business justification information and articulate what the spend is related to what portions of the business.
Bachelor of Science in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
8 years of related work experience Required functional experience
Experience with implementations, problem analysis and solutions for Contracts and Financial Management. Required education and certifications

Ability to influence leaders inside and outside of the department through data analysis, insights and recommendations.
Strong analytical problem solving and decision-making abilities.
Knowledge of data analysis and modeling concepts, methods, techniques and best practices to create complex data models. Proficient business and financial acumen to effectively develop and manage department budgets, expenses, forecasts and variances.
Solid communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills to effectively develop relationships with staff, clients and various levels of leadership.
Strong leadership and time management skills.
Proficiency in applicable data analysis tools.
